Report on Drivers’ Pay Negotiations 2008
As most of you are probably now aware, the final offer from the company has now been tabled. The Company then concluded to offer the deal after considering various options, as the majority of the Trade Union side favoured this particular option.
Deal
Year 1 Year 2
5% 3% or RPI plus 0.75%
87.5% Post Quals 90% Post Quals
The additional 0.25% was offered if the trade unions would accept Depot Cross Cover to reduce reliance on Rest Day Working. There was discussion about the impact of this change, and the Company will now provide written confirmation of this change.
Under the proposal, spares will be used from other depots before an RDW driver within the parameters of the current agreements.
The Company offer will be put before the RMT Executive for consideration along with our reports
In the meantime, I will welcome feedback from our drivers.
Note: I understand that our ASLE&F colleagues are recommending the deal to their Executive.
